The Redskins cut Oshimogo Atogwe and Mike Sellers Monday. Sellers, 36, spent 11 of his 12 year career in Washington as a fullback. He was a highly productive player and leader. Last year, Mike Shanahan attempted switch his position to Tight End, which didn’t work well at all. With the emergence of Darrell Young, who’s position change from linebacker to fullback has been successful, Sellers days were numbered.

Oshimogo Atogwe, 30, was the first and only signing before last years lockout. He was thought to fill the free safety position need, however couldn’t stay healthy. His production was sporadic and releasing him helped the Redskins save  $3.4 million.

With Atogwe’s release and the expected departure of Laron Landry, this instantly makes Safety a priority need. It’ll be interesting to see they address these holes. In my opinion, it’s a poor safety draft and not much value in free agency, which begins Tues. at 4pm.
