LaRon Landry’s Exit From Washington Redskins Not A Surprise
LaRon Landry’s exit from the Washington Redskins to the New York Jets shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone. In a sad, business-like way, it should be welcomed.
The New York Jets recently signed Landry to a one-year four-million-dollar deal.
Landry has been fighting injuries for quite a while. The hamstring, groin and achilles injuries kept him away from the game he loves.
And when the Redskins released free safety Oshiomogho Atogwe, I just knew it was only a matter of time for Landry. Those two guys represented would could’ve been. You can tell the Redskins are trying to reinvent themselves.
This means healthy, young, ready to go. If you don’t have all three, start looking for another team.
With the team the Redskins have now, there is no room for risk. Peyton Manning knew this, and so does LaRon. That’s why he’s a Jet now. The Redskins need everyone as healthy has possible for the upcoming season.
I was really hoping LaRon would return for another season because let’s face it, you saw his twitter pictures. This guy hulked up. He looks ready to play.
For a moment you thought the same thing I did: “This guy is coming back”.
But that’s done now. He’s out.
- In 2009, Landry had 78 solo tackles.
- In 2010, he declined, with only 66.
- In 2011, that number dropped dramatically with only 35.
Don’t blame game time. In 2009 and 2010, he played 8 or so games each season. This was his health showing its ugly face, and he’s been fighting to get back to glory ever since. Let’ see if the Jets can use him. Either way it doesn’t matter now.
