Andrew Wiggins is one of the most exciting basketball players in the nation and he’s only an incoming junior at Huntington Prep, West Virgina. Although college is a couple years away for Wiggins, he has his choice of any college he wants. If Wiggins hopes to continue his basketball success, he needs to be a North Carolina Tar Heel.

North Carolina is consistently one of the top teams in the NCAA and has produced some of the best NBA players.

North Carolina has also been NCAA tournament champions 5 times, NCAA tournament runner-up 4 times, and has reached the Final Four 18 times. They have an experienced coach in Roy Williams, who was AP Coach of the Year two times, ACC Coach of the Year two times and Big Eight Coach of the Year four times.

Some famous NBA players that have played at North Carolina include: Rick Fox, Michael Jordan and James Worthy. Together these NBA retirees combine for 12 NBA Championships, 21 All Star appearances, and 7 NBA Finals MVPs.

Although North Carolina has produced many Hall of Famers, they continue to produce great talents and high lottery picks. Recently North Carolina produced 7th overall pick Harrison Barnes, who went to the Golden State Warriors.  Barnes averaged 17.3 ppg., 5.2 rbg., 1 apg , in the Tar Heels 2011-2012 season and was ranked a top 10 prospect by ESPN.

Wiggins announced in early July that his top five choices are North Carolina, Duke, Syracuse, Florida State, and Kentucky, but has not disclosed when he will announce his choice.
