The play of Baltimore Ravens All Pro safety Ed Reed has suffered a noticeable decline over the past several weeks.  According to comments made by Reed yesterday to ESPN.com the safety has been playing with a shoulder injury for several weeks.  Reed’s seemingly half-hearted tackle attempt on the Bengals Bernard Scott lead to a touchdown run in the Ravens season finale.  Reed admitted to ESPN.com that he has missed a tackle in each of the past four games.  In addition to the reported shoulder injury Reed has played with a nerve impingement in his neck for several seasons, which has affected his tackling ability.  Reed has always had a flair for the dramatic and his star has typically shined the brightest on the big stage.  The veteran is likely nearing the end of his Hall of Fame career but he will have at least one more chance to impact a big game when the Texans travel to Baltimore to take on the Ravens in Sunday’s AFC Divisional Playoff game.  The Texans rely heavily on runnings backs Arian Foster and Ben Tate to advance the football.  Reed will have plenty of opportunity to be the hero or the goat for the Ravens on Sunday.  Given his history I’ll put my money on Reed being the hero at least one more time.
