All the mystery surrounding the Big 12 football schedule in 2012 could be lifted as early as tomorrow, according to Texas Tech athletic director Kirby Hocutt.

Hocutt, while speaking on the completion of a renovation process to the Red Raiders’ baseball stadium Thursday, said to expect the Big 12 schedule as early as tomorrow.

Hocutt seemed extremely pleased with the results of the schedule, at least from a Texas Tech perspective, but Big 12 fans all over will be relieved to finally see the schedule.

The big hold up on the process has been the struggle between West Virginia and the Big East, as they have fought over the Mountaineers leaving the Big East for the 2012 season. Big East by-laws maintain a school must give the conference 27 months notice before leaving the conference for another.

The Mountaineers have said all along they would be Big 12 members and, based on reports today, it appears they were correct.

Reports out of West Virginia are that the university and the Big East have reached a settlement that would allow the Mountaineers to leave the conference, while paying an $11 million exit fee. Final details have not been discussed, but it appears the argument is close to an end.

Soon, Big 12 fans everywhere will know the football schedule for 2012. It’s been a long wait.
