NCAA Tournament Second Round: Marquette vs. Murray State Preview
Jeff Hanisch-US PRESSWIRE

Game: (3) Marquette – (6) Murray State 3/17 5:15 PM ET

Game Analysis: Marquette cruised past BYU in their first round game with very little scares.  Guard Darius Johnson-Odom scored 20 points and forward Jae Crowder added an incredible 25 points with 16 rebounds.  Murray State similarly beat up on their first round opponent with a 58-41 victory over Colorado State.  Murray State is one of the highest scoring team’s in the nation at over 74 points a game and will rely heavily on their back-court.  However, the Racers are not a strong interior team, so if they get behind then they could eventually get impatient and start throwing up 3-pointers.

Matchup to Watch: G Darius Johnson-Odom, Marquette vs. G Isaiah Canaan, Murray State – “Dojo” is leading the team with 18.5 points per game, including a clutch 43 points in the last two games.  He is an extremely dangerous 3-point shooter, but his free throw problems could come to light sooner rather than later.  Canaan is also an amazing scorer with 19.2 points per game and can certainly give Johnson-Odom a run for his money.  This matchup will go back and fourth all day.  It would not be too surprising to see these two combine for 50 points in the contest.

Prediction: Marquette 66 – Muarry State 63
