Cincinnati Bengals Agree to Four-Year Deal With Mohamed Sanu
The Cincinnati Bengals agreed to terms with third-round pick Mohamed Sanu on Monday as the wide receiver agreed to a four-year deal with the team. The details of the contract are still being figured out, but the former Rutgers star is expected to earn a hefty bonus of $563,252.
With the departures of Jerome Simpson (Minnesota Vikings) and Andre Caldwell (Denver Broncos), expectations are high for Sanu heading into the 2012 season as the rookie has the chance to make an immediate impact for the Bengals’ offense. During his final season at Rutgers, Sanu finished with 109 catches for 1,144 yards to go along with seven touchdowns and has been praised for his size and strength as a wideout.
After a surprise run at the playoffs in 2011, expectations will be even higher heading into 2012 for the Bengals as they look to continue building one of the youngest offenses in the NFL with Andy Dalton under center. As of now, the only lock for the team’s starter at wide receiver is A.J. Green–so it should be interesting to see if Sanu can work his way into the No. 2 spot.
If Sanu does manage to live up to the hype–just imagine the type of receiving duo Cincinnati could have on their hands over the next couple of years.
