Pat Riley should consider signing Greg Oden

Pat Rileyshould strongly consider signing Greg Oden.

Thus far in his career he has been a bust and injury prone.

In the 82 games Oden has played in he averages 9.4 points per game, just over seven rebounds per game, and just over one blocks per game.

He is seven feet tall and weighs 285 lbs. He is an old school big man, with an old school body.

But it’s a high risk, high reward situation.

Oden’s lack of health puts a question mark and doubt into every NBA GM’s mind although he potentially can be a starting center in this league for a long time who can score, rebound, defend, and shoot free throws.

Riley keeps every Miami Heat player on his toes about staying in condition and healthy whether he is starting or in a suit by the bench during games. His philosophy and strict way of running things in South Beach may be exactly what Oden needs to stay healthy.

The team that Oden would be most needed for in the east is the Philadelphia 76ers who traded for Andrew Bynum, the league’s best low-post scoring center.

Oden would be an upgrade from Erick Dampier, Juwan Howard, Joel Anthony, Jamaal Magloire, and young Dexter Pittman. He could be a great addition to a team that likes to attack the rim and may feed off the play of LeBron James.

He has expressed that he would be interested in joining the organization and after a deal that involved the leagues two best centers, he may be worth the risk.
