Six Mavs left to talk about and these next group of guys will be the main pieces of the Dallas Mavericks roster.

These three guys will be main keys to the Mavs success this year and a chance to compete with the San Antonio Spurs in the Southwest Division.

#6-Jae Crowder (F)– Crowder will be a big part of the Mavs future after Dirk Nowitzki calls it quits. This is one rookie that I do believe that will end up being the sixth man that comes from the bench to give Nowitzki the rest he needs.

Crowder averaged 16.6 points and 5.4 rebounds a game during the Summer League. Those stats won’t be as high during the regular season, but he should be able to slowly work his way up in the stats as the season goes on. The only thing I worry about is the Mavericks history and the way they build up their rookies.

With that said if Crowder wants to play a lot of minutes with this team he will have to make a great impression sooner more than later and If he doesn’t then he may be seeing a lot of time with the Texas Legends.

#5-Elton Brand (F/C)– Brand will be the guy the Mavs will go to give either Nowitzki or Chris Kaman a break. Brand averaged 11 points, 7.2 rebounds and 1.3 blocks a game last year with the Philadelphia 76ers, but has a career average of 18.3 points, 9.4 rebounds and 1.9 blocks a game during his 13 year career.

He will be one of the main role players to come off the bench to provide solid minutes. Brand is an aging player, so we do not know how much of a contribution he will provide until the season gets here. Then we will have to wait after a full month of play then we will know where exactly Brand’s place is with the Dallas Mavericks.

For now, he is placed #5 due to his past. Remember he did win the rookie of the year award (along with Steve Francis) in 2000.

#4-O.J. Mayo (G)– It may not seem like Mayo is a big addition as he has slipped the past two season when he was with the Memphis Grizzlies, but you have to look what he did the first two years when he was in the league. The first two years in the league he averaged 18 points a game and started in all 82 games in both of those seasons. This last year he did not start a game with Memphis.

In only his fifth year in the NBA and only at the age of 24, Mayo can be a big factor in the Mavs future after Dirk retires. If he shows that he can be the one guy that every one of his teammates can go to during crunch time.

One this is for sure is that if Mayo can show the team that he can perform as he did the first two year when he was in the league then the Mavs will for sure sign him into a 4-5 year contract after his current 2 year contract is up.
