Nashville Predators’ Radulov, Kostitsyn Break Curfew, Will Miss Game 3
The Nashville Predators will be missing two of its big names when they take on the Phoenix Coyotes in Game 3 of their conference semifinal series–all because of a broken curfew.
Alexander Radulov and Andrei Kostitsyn have been ruled out because of what general manager David Poile referred to as a violation of a team rule.
“The Nashville Predators have a few simple rules centered around doing the right things,” he said in a statement. “We have always operated with a team-first mentality and philosophy. Violating team rules is not fair to our team and their teammates.”
Asked by reporters to elaborate, he provided more details about how upset and disappointed he was, but skirted around telling the exact reason.
“I’m not going to expand upon it,” he said. “Everyone has team rules. Again, what they did was unacceptable.”
Nashville coach Barry Trotz reportedly met privately with Radulov at the team’s hotel in Phoenix after the Predators lost 5-3 to the Coyotes, but he didn’t talk publicly about what was said in that meeting.
It was John Shannon of SportsNet who broke the exact reason for Radulov and Kostitsyn’s absence: a missed curfew.
“Radulov and AKostitsyn were spotted in Scottsdale at 4am on the eve of Game 2. Suspended for Game 3 by club,” he said on Twitter.
Four in the morning! No wonder Keith Jones was absolutely ripping apart Radulov’s play during the intermissions of Game 2.
It’s not clear yet if Radulov and Kostitsyn will be back for Game 4 or if they will just sit out one game for the curfew infraction. Game 3 will be May 2 at 9 p.m. on CNBC.
