The New York Giants and the New York Jets will play preseason game number two tonight. You can check it out on NFL Network if you don’t live in New York. Here are some things to watch.

The D vs The Wildcat: Apparently the Jets are revolutionizing the wildcat. So much so that they made everyone who was covering practice turn off all their cameras and weren’t allowed to report on what they saw. They plan on unleashing it tonight against the Giants. The Giants have a banged up interior defensive line so this should be a good test for them.

Return game: The Giants had all sorts of fumbling issues in game one of the preseason during punt returns. You know coach Tom Coughlin is not going to put up with those kinds of mistakes. The Giants even brought in another returner this week to see if he can help out. The return game was an issue all season long last year and it looks like it is continuing to be so.

Third receiver: Someone needs to step up and claim the third spot. Hakeem Nicks looks like he’s on track to start the season after coming off the PUP list earlier this week. Can Rueben Randle continue developing? Will Domenik Hixon step up and claim it?

In the second preseason game, look for the starters to play three or four series maybe even a quarter. Then the backups come in. These are the guys to watch who are fighting for the roster spots and the backup positions. Again, the results don’t matter as much as execution and health do.
