As it has been since the beginning of the season is the same as it is now, Dwight Howard of the Orlando Magic, must have his way by any means necessary. The Atlanta born big man has become a part of another rumored blockbuster trade fixture centered around a re-engaged Los Angeles Lakers, the Denver Nuggets, and the Philadelphia 76ers.

“There are multiple moving parts in the fluid talks”, said Rant Sports’ Director of Content Dan Parzych. “The framework of a possible deal includes Howard and Denver forward Al Harrington going to the Lakers, Philadelphia guard Andre Iguodala going to the Nuggets, Los Angeles center Andrew Bynum moving to the 76ers, and Los Angeles forward Pau Gasol and Denver guard Arron Affalo going to the Magic, sources told Yahoo! Sports”.

Howard first shot down the team’s last ditch effort from general manager Rob Hennigan last month, which was his third attempt since his signing a week prior to the 2012 NBA Draft. Howard is currently remaining in Los Angeles to try to finish out the blockbuster deal.

Now looking at the deal, there are specific issues that come with it in it’s entirety. The 76ers would be giving up their star player for the last eight years, potential Gold medalist in London, and NBA All-Star, for a younger more immature and attitude craved Andrew Bynum, this may not sit over well with everyone.

Andre Iguodala has been the rock for everyone to rely on in the 76ers franchise in recent memory and to ditch him now when he’s at the pinnacle of his career talent wise may not be in the best interest for the young Sixers team. The city has had it’s recent issues with the former Arizona Wildcat, but he, nonetheless, has been the main contributor to the team since he has come in the league. It seems as though whenever a Philadelphia team let’s one of their budding stars go, they seem to do much better after they’ve left. Not always the best sight as a fan of the 76ers.

On the other end of business, Andrew Bynum is arguably one of the top five best Centers in the league and an asset that can ease the rest of a weaker Sixers frontcourt. In the 2011-2012 NBA regular season, Bynum averaged double-double figures by punching out 18.7 points per game, grabbing 11.8 rebounds per game, and having nearly 2.0 blocks per contest while shooting a hefty 55.8 percent from the floor. As great as Bynum’s numbers have been, there has been even more attention on something you can’t mark in a stat line, his maturity level.

Bynum has recently been the center in the NBA to be an avid complainer and, to Philadelphia fans, he might become a reminder of a younger Allen Iverson who never wanted to show up to practice. On top of immaturity issues, Bynum may not be so reluctant to re-sign to a team that would get him out of Hollywood. Even though the Sixers would potentially have the money to spend to get the big man back he may not want to come back as stars sometimes do, and end up testing the free agency ocean, but only time knows.

Looking forward towards the team, this becomes more beneficial all around with Iguodala leaving the franchise. Moe Harkless and Dorell Wright will certainly have more playing time in the rotation, and this opens up a chance for young forwards, Arnett Moultrie, Lavoy Allen, and Thad Young, to all learn from a more experienced player in the NBA. The only losers in the rotation would be Kwame Brown at the center position (now raise your hands one by one for who wants Kwame to play). Ultimately, the Sixers team might be even more of a contender without Iguodala, this coming from one of his biggest supporters.

As the clock continues to wither down the minutes until we figure out where Howard’s, tears will lead future superstars, we can only hope for the best. At bare minimum this is a win-win situation for the Philadelphia franchise. If we keep Iguodala, we maintain one of the best defensive forwards in the league and keep a perennial superstar and Olympian. Although, if we choose Bynum, we get a more aggressive frontcourt that fans have been yearning to see for years.

We’ve got a lot to choose from, as long as it’s not Darryl Watkins again, I’m more than happy here.
