The Philadelphia Eagles have announced that Mike Kafka, the team’s 2010 fourth round draft pick, will move to second string at the quarterback position. This means that recently signed Trent Edwards will be the third string quarterback.

Kafka has never been higher than the team’s third round draft pick.

He appeared in the fourth quarter of the games against the Falcons and the Giants, completing 11 of 16 passes for 107 yards and two interceptions. He put the Eagles into position to win on a last-second touchdown against Atlanta but wide receiver Jeremy Maclin dropped a 4th and 4 pass on the Atlanta 16-yard line in the final minute.

Edwards has played parts of four seasons, throwing 25 touchdowns and 30 interceptions in his career. He did not play during the 2011 season.
