LaDainian Tomlinson Blasts New York Jets with Candid Conversation About the Locker Room
As the Baltimore Ravens and New England Patriots get set to play in the first AFC Championship game without the New York Jets in three years, somehow the Jets have managed to stay in the spotlight, for better or for worse.
Despite their season ending nearly three weeks ago, the media has kept the Jets relevant whether they like it or not, as the blame game for their underachieving 8-8 season continues.
This week, it’s veteran running back LaDainian Tomlinson who’s in the news, as he went on Showtime’s “Inside the NFL” and gave more validity to the talk about the Jets’ locker room troubles.
When rookie quarterback Greg McElroy aired out some of the Jets’ dirty laundry a few weeks ago, he took some heat. Many felt that even if what he was saying was true, he doesn’t have the résumé to speak about it publicly.
Well, Tomlinson’s comments certainly add some credibility to McElroy’s comments about a messy locker room, and it’s frustrating to hear the future Hall of Famer go on national TV to talk about it.
Among other things, Tomlinson said that Mark Sanchez’s relationship with Santonio Holmes was as bad as anything he’d seen, and he blamed Jets management for the Jets’ locker room dysfunction.
It is strange to me that a supposed locker room leader like Tomlinson would go out and alienate his teammates, compromising any remaining camaraderie that the Jets may have had.
Regardless of what you think about Tomlinson’s comments, it appears pretty likely that the writing is on the wall and he will not be returning to the team next year.
The joke’s on him, of course, because I’m not the one with a tattoo of the Jets logo on my calf. Tomlinson has a tattoo on each calf, one of the Jets logo, and one of the San Diego Chargers’ logo. So there’s that.

He is done in NY anyway there are better RB available this year younger faster stronger. He didnt give us that much this year to retain him I say go after a guy like Lynch or Hillis and pound them with green next year.
I agree, I’d like to see an upgrade at running back. There are some good players available this offseason via free agency and the draft, and I’d also liked to see an increased role on offense from Joe McKnight. I think McKnight can take over Tomlinson’s role as a third-down back and receiver out of the backfield, and Greene can be a good ground-and-pound style back. That said, I’d still prefer a legitimate starting running back to take the pressure off the young guys we have. In a dream scenario, I’d love to pry Arian Foster away from the Texans. He would be a perfect fit in the Jets’ scheme.
